Stainless Steel F150 Truck Rack by Tritan Fabrications

Within the last few months Dave bought himself a new F150 truck because he needed a bit more power to tow his trailer full of toys(see Aftermarket motorcycle parts post).

Dave has slowly been adding to his new F150. First he added a bed liner, then came the cap, now he has added a custom F150  truck rack to the mix which he made out of stainless steel.  The rear is designed to look like a rear spoiler.

Dave’s goal was to design and install a custom rack that would be attractive and eye catching as well as functional. This is a one of a kind pickup rack that is made out of stainless steel using tig welding.

Dave estimates the time involved with design, creation and installation was about 10 hours.

So if you are out in Boyertown, Pottstown or Quakertown and you see this white F150 with a cool looking custom rack, honk and say hello.

After Market Motorcycle Parts Fabrication

Custom Motorcycle Parts and Accessories

These days, there are a lot of awesome custom motorcycle parts readily available on the market. But there are times when you know just what you want and what’s out there just doesn’t align with your vision.

Sometimes, even the best aftermarket motorcycle parts just aren’t quite what you had in mind. It’s just not something that is made. Still, that doesn’t mean that it can’t be. For some people, that means it can’t be done. For others, it’s a challenge to make it happen. To bring someone’s vision to reality, even if it’s never been done before and there’s nothing else like it on the market.

When it comes to custom motorcycle parts fabrication, you can change nearly everything in some way or another. That includes:

• Brake pedals
• Exhaust system hardware
• Fenders
• Fuel tanks
• Handle bars
• Heat Shields
• Inner gear shift leaver
• Saddle bag mounting hardware
• Spotlight bracket
• Tail light bracket
• Tour Pak base plate
• Turn signal stand-off
• Windshield bracket assembly
• Windshield docking clamps

There are tons of reasons that can make you want to step beyond what is already available and have custom aftermarket parts tailored to your own design.  At one time, it was relatively rare, but it is becoming increasingly commonplace nowadays. After all, we love our motorcycles and we want them to look and perform in a very specific way.

This trend started relatively recently.  People have always wanted to be able to choose certain colors and features, but when it came to true custom motorcycle parts fabrication, it was mostly the people who were able to do it themselves who would.  Either they were the experienced fabricators or painters, or they knew someone who was.

Then the Chopper craze happened. Suddenly, customizing a machine became something that riders wanted to do – so they started doing it.  They’d alter their existing design with aftermarket motorcycle parts.

When the trend was still new, it was tough to find someone to make the changes for you – especially when the custom motorcycle parts needed to be fabricated, not just purchased and installed.  Over time, that started to change.  The demand for more people to fabricate parts created a new market of people who were willing to do the job.

The market today is very different and it gives you a lot of choice.  This means that you have the chance to find someone who will respect your vision and bring it to reality.  Or at least the closest version of it that physics will allow.

A custom motorcycle lets a rider head out on the perfect machine.  It’s no longer a matter of choosing a certain make or model.  Sure, that can play a huge role, but for many people, that’s just the jumping off point.  Now, designing, engineering, fabricating and painting can let you start with a motorcycle you like and turn it into something you love.

Stainless Steel Fabrication Project

This stainless steel fabrication project was done for Leidy’s Meats in Souderton PA.

I do welding for Leidy’s pretty regularly. The other day, I they were looking to have a part to one of their machines replaced, but the machine is no longer manufactured. Leidy’s got a price for just a new shaft that was quite high, and there would be no telling when they would get the part. They asked me if I could fabricate one of the shafts. I gave them a price to design, fabricate, weld, and install the new stainless steel part, shaft and all. I will be installing the new stainless steel part tomorrow if all go well.

Design, Fabrication and Welding Time

Total time to design and fabricate the machine part was 1 day. The installation might add a bit of time to the total project time.
Stainless Steel was the material that was used for the fabrication.

Pottstown Pa Welding Job – Steel Stair Treads

This welding project was done last year at the New York Plaza in Pottstown PA. The welding job involved fabricating the treads for the steps which were rusted out, which I did in my shop, then transported them to the job site and installed.

Pottstown PA Welding Fabrication - Steel Steps

Total Time for the Pottstown Welding Job

First I had to remove the old steps, which involved a sledge hammer and a grinder. The old steel steps were so rusted, that many of them came out very easily with the just the sledge hammer. I also had to rope off the area, and make sure no one would come through the door and get injured.

After taking measurements, I went back to the shop and began the fabrication.

For the treads I used 3/16″ steel.  Once fabricated, I took the steel treads back to Pottstown and installed.

Total time for the job with fabrication, removal and installation: 2 days.
